Dublin–ISACA, a global professional association dedicated to helping individuals and organizations achieve digital trust, is pleased to announce that its Digital Trust Ecosystem Framework (DTEF) has been included in the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)’s AI Catalogue of Tools.

The OECD AI Catalogue is a repository of tools and resources for the responsible development and use of artificial intelligence (AI). The inclusion of ISACA's DTEF in this catalogue attests to the recognition of DTEF as an effective tool in achieving trustworthy AI environments.

"We are very pleased by the inclusion of the DTEF in the prestigious OECD AI Catalogue," said Chris Dimitriadis, Chief Global Strategy Officer at ISACA "DTEF is highly applicable in the AI space and in helping organizations and professionals to navigate the complexities of implementing AI and build trust in this transformative technology."

ISACA's recent State of Digital Trust 2024 report underscores the importance of such frameworks. The survey upon which the report is based found that 78% of respondents agree that digital trust is crucial to digital transformation, and 82% say digital trust will grow in importance over the next five years. Despite this recognition, only 20% of organizations are planning to increase their budgets for digital trust initiatives. This reveals critical gaps in organizational strategies regarding digital trust, underscoring the necessity for frameworks like the DTEF to help organizations bridge the gap between the perceived importance of digital trust and their actual investment in it.

Shannon Donahue, Chief Content and Publishing Officer at ISACA, commented: "ISACA’s Digital Trust Ecosystem Framework offers enterprises a holistic framework that applies systems thinking. The framework is not only comprehensive but also adaptable to existing standards like ISO 27001 and NIST CSF, ensuring that many organizations are already performing many of the tasks outlined in the DTEF."

The DTEF is a system-wide and holistic digital trust framework that covers six domains: Culture, Emergence, Human Factors, Direct and Monitor, Architecture, and Enabling and Support. As part of this, the system can help an enterprise identify and mitigate the risks of AI usage systematically, improving transparency and accountability in the use of technology. It is particularly pertinent to AI, which is likely to be applied beyond an organization’s technology or security departments and will therefore have implications that cut across departments and business units.

The OECD's inclusion of the DTEF comes on the heels of its recent inclusion in the UK Centre for Data Ethics and Innovation (CDEI) Portfolio of AI Assurance Techniques earlier this year. This underscores ISACA's leadership in charting a course for responsible technology governance.

"As AI continues to evolve and become more pervasive, it is important that we have robust models in place for trustworthy and ethical use," added Dimitriadis "ISACA is proud to contribute the DTEF to augment this work by the OECD in this very important area, furthering our mission of empowering organizations to use technology in a way that builds trust and integrity."
