The UK government’s latest statement commits to using the UK Cyber Security Council's professional standards and titles to maintain a clear and consistent career framework. By 2025, the government will map its Government Security Career Framework for the UK public sector to the Council's professional titles and specialisms, providing certainty around the skills and competencies required for each role and clear pathways into and across cyber security within government.
"Moving forward, the Council can play a crucial role in delivering on the UK’s ambitions to develop the workforce skills to meet the demands of a fast-evolving threat landscape for businesses and individuals, with the proliferation of new technologies like AI. While the success of the Council will be critical to embedding professional standards across the economy, it is equally important that UK policymakers provide businesses with the necessary incentives to invest in upskilling and training, and guidance toward best practice frameworks for building their organizational resilience," said Chris Dimitriadis, Global Chief Strategy Officer at ISACA.
Continuing to collaborate with the UK Cyber Security Council, ISACA is actively involved in the development of a specialist Cyber Audit and Assurance programme. The Council's professional standards and associated titles elevate the bar of cybersecurity competence, enhancing the nation's cyber resilience and defining career pathways in cybersecurity.
"ISACA is proud to be a part of this initiative," added Dimitriadis. "At ISACA, we are dedicated to helping reduce the skills gap and empower cybersecurity professionals with the relevant certifications to support a key priority for UK businesses and government alike. By offering clear guidance on certifications relevant to each specialism, the Certification Framework simplifies the navigation of the complex landscape of cybersecurity qualifications, enabling professionals to build rewarding careers in this critical field."
ISACA's credentials, mapped against the Council's Certification Framework, continue to provide a clear path for all certified cybersecurity professionals in both the UK private and public sectors. The framework covers 16 specialisms, each mapped to specific knowledge areas within the Cyber Body of Knowledge (CyBOK), and matches each of these with relevant certifications and training.
